As you run your fingers over the jar, you will marvel at the dew on the bamboo nodes as if they are rolling (the detailed brushwork technique), while the background orchids blend like a rain-soaked landscape (the freehand technique with implied presence). This “dual life of detailed and freehand brushwork” technique requires seven firings on the unglazed body, with the orange-red glaze like autumn sunshine piercing through morning mist, every inch of light telling the 650-year-old wisdom of porcelain-making in Jingdezhen.
