The zhatai bowl is one of the varieties with one-step throwing and less trimming in the ceramic forming processes of Jingdezhen. As the initial biscuits on the board have varying degrees of contraction and deformation, it may be very difficult to have all of the products in conformity with standards and, therefore, they need to be impressed in a mould with certain specifications and standards. The impression mould is usually made of the clay quarried from the mountains and sintered. It has a certain degree of abosorbency and solidity. Their shapes are identical to inner shapes of shapes of bowls to be made.
1.Turn the bowl bottom upward on the impression mould. Adjust its position before patting the bottom of biscuit with a wooden slat to press it. Then, pat the exterior of the biscuit by hands and turning it around while patting. As a result, the interior of the biscuit completely fit in with the shape of the mould
2.Grasp the clay handle on the foot of bowl firmly and take it up
